i don't know how the rest of y'all feel, but i am so sick of the "professional" athletes who think they're owed something.
by now, i'm pretty certain everyone's heard about kobe's rant on somebody's
video phone, but what's the big deal? is this really any worse than sprewell's choking rampage or any pro's attitude? this is just another whine from a guy who makes more money than god who thinks we should all do for him.
i was infinitely more interested in hearing about the transgressions of alan iverson's issues with his wife or ron artest's arrest for domestic violence or even some of dennis rodman's shenanigans. but there seems to be a great deal less on the real lapses in judgment than the stupid things by these "superstars", such as kobe's video rant.
the guy who made the video contacted the lakers' organization BEFORE kobe announced on 30 May that he wanted to be traded. the lakers didn't care. they still don't. kobe wants to be traded because the lakers aren't winning enough. ok, let's look at that.
the lakers were winning everything. kobe complained that others (mostly shaq and phil) were getting too much credit and he wanted to be "the man". the lakers acquiesced and shaq and phil were gone.
then the lakers weren't winning - pretty much no winning. so kobe said, well maybe we do need phil after all. $10mil/year later, and back comes phil.
then the lakers won more, but not enough for kobe's liking. now kobe says he's not getting enough support and the players they have him playing with aren't good enough and he wants to take his toys and go play somewhere else.
and so far the lakers are telling him no. good for them. it's about time someone said no to this whiney little boy.
